What is yoga? Why do it?

 

The word “Yoga” comes from the Sanskrit term meaning to yoke or to unite. Practising yoga creates balance in body, mind, and spirit. At the physical level, Yoga is a scientific art designed to bring health and harmony to the various systems and areas of the body and mind mainly through postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana).

 

Today in the western world, “yoga” typically describes a physical practice that creates strength, flexibility and balance in the body and mind.

Is Yoga just stretching?

 

While stretching is involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility.

 

I’m not in the best shape, is yoga for me?

 

It sure is. Students of all shapes and sizes practise yoga. If you are not sure where or how to begin, come into Yoga Sculpt n Shape studio and one of our knowledgeable trainers will help you find the right yoga class for you and your needs.

 

I can’t afford regular classes. What are my options?

 

Yoga Sculpt n Shape studio offers class cards & unlimited cards for your choice. Check the current schedule (click here) for days and times.

 

Which class is right for me?

 

Yoga Sculpt n Shape studio offers many different styles of yoga; it might take a few tries to find the trainer and class that works best for you. If you are brand new to yoga or if you have injuries or physical limitations, we recommend that you start out with the Hatha Flow yoga class. Our Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga classes will provide you with a more active class. Anyone can attend these classes as modifications are offered throughout. No matter what yoga class you attend, it is most important that you honor your body.

 

What should I wear?

 

You should wear comfortable form-fitting clothing that you can easily move in and will not be distracted by. Yoga is typically practised in bare feet.

 

Can I drop in, or do I need to make a reservation?

 

You are welcome to drop in before, during or after class. Or you can also make appointment by calling our hotline +84 (0) 91 637 1008.

 

What if I am late?

 

Classes begin on time, so please try to arrive 10 - 15 minutes early.

 

Can I eat before class?

 

Yoga is best practised on an empty stomach. Try not to eat for about two hours before class. If you must eat, something small and nutritious is best.

 

Where should I park?

 

You can park at the basement of the Saigon Mansion building. Motorbike parking is free of charge. 50% discount on car parking. Please show your membership card to the guards upon your arrival. Also consider walking or taking the bus to the studio.

 

Can I use my cell phone?

 

Cell phones are not allowed in yoga room at all times. Please remember to silence or turn off your cell phone during yoga class.

 

What SHOULD NOT I bring to the yoga studio?

 

Yoga Sculpt n Shape studio provides you with drinking water, tea & coffee, mats and towels at no charge. Shower rooms are also available.
